The Walden Original Fire Pit Grate with Ember Catcher drops into a standard fire pit, or sits straight on the ground for a bonfire. Raising the wood lets air come up through the fire instead of only around it, which is what makes a fire burn hot and clean rather than smolder.

Which size do I need?

Measure straight across the inside of your pit, at the narrowest point. This grate sits down inside the pit rather than resting on the rim, so it has to be smaller than that opening.

• Opening 25 to 29 inches: take the 24 inch grate.
• Opening 30 inches or more: take the 29.5 inch grate, so the fire sits under more of the pit instead of bunching in the middle.
• Opening under 25 inches: neither size will drop in. Send us the measurement and we will tell you straight rather than sell you the wrong grate.

Round pit, square pit or a block surround, the number that matters is the same: the shortest distance across the inside.
