Grasp the all-natural wood handle to control the poker and use its hooked end to safely maneuver your firewood. Poke logs to improve air circulation for a hotter fire, rearrange them for optimal burning, or break up embers to control the heat. You can also blow through the one-way air-valve to reignite flames from embers and get your fire roaring to life. The ideal Fire Poker length depends on whether you're using it for an indoor fireplace or an outdoor fire pit. A fireplace poker typically ranges in length from 24 to 36 inches, allowing you to tend the fire from a comfortable distance without reaching into the flames. For outdoor fire pits, which are generally larger, a longer poker (36 to 48 inches) is recommended. This extra length lets you safely tend the fire from a comfortable distance while keeping yourself out of the way of the heat and sparks. A longer fire poker is typically heavier than a short one, so it may be relatively difficult to wield, so we designed a high-carbon steel tube that makes for a sturdy yet lightweight fire controlling experience.

Three key features you should consider when looking for a long-lasting fire poker are material, length, and handle. For material, choose sturdy heat-resistant powder-coated high carbon steel to withstand the intense heat of the fire. For length, consider the size of your fire pit. A longer poker (36 to 48 inches) is ideal for outdoor fire pits, allowing you to tend the fire from a safe – or even seated - distance. A fireplace poker can be shorter, around 24 to 36 inches. For the handle, look for a comfortable grip that insulates from heat and provides a good hold. For the ultimate poker, consider additional features like the ability to safely blow through the poker to stoke the flames.

Both the Legacy Series™ Fire Poker and the blow-through Stoker Poker® are sturdy and built to last. The Legacy Fire Poker is available in sizes between 24 and 40 inches, so it works for indoor and outdoor use and is ultra-heavy duty. The Stoker Poker has a one-way air valve that allows you to blow through the poker to direct fuel (oxygen) right into the flames in addition to the classic functionality of a fire poker. This is particularly useful for outdoor fire pits and can be safe and fun for all ages.

While the wood handle has been treated for outdoor use, we recommend storing your Stoker Poker in a garage or shed to protect it from the elements when you are not using it.
